The Mystical Cookbook

"The only good function of a book on Zen should be to persuade the reader to engage in zazen.

In the same way, the only major purpose of a book on mysticism should be to persuade the reader to engage in mystical practice.

It is precisely like a cookbook: You give recipes and invite the reader to go out and perform the recipe, actually do it, and then taste the results. You are not supposed merely to learn the recipes, memorise the recipes, and then claim you're a cook".
